Driving Circular Innovation with Hydrogen and Collaboration
CERITA – The Circular Economy for Riga and Tartu Waste Management Facilities – is a pioneering project transforming how we handle waste through the power of hydrogen and international collaboration. Led by a diverse consortium of partners from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, and the Netherlands, CERITA unites expertise across borders to develop tailored, sustainable solutions for waste management in Riga and Tartu.
At the heart of CERITA is hydrogen innovation. By integrating hydrogen and its derivatives into the waste management value chain, the project explores new ways to recover energy, reduce emissions, and create added value from waste. Each facility is studied individually, recognizing that what works in one city might not fit another—ensuring solutions are both smart and scalable.
Through cross-border cooperation, CERITA fosters knowledge sharing, joint research, and coordinated investment strategies. The project also emphasizes public awareness and education, aiming to inspire communities and policymakers across the region to embrace circular economy principles.
Together, we’re not just managing waste—we’re redefining its value for a cleaner, more connected future.
